Qld Remote Jobs Fair Highlights Opportunities in the Digital Economy

Back to Posts

We recently hosted the Qld Remote Jobs Fair in partnership with the Qld Government and a group of world class digital employers. Over 250 job seekers turned up - a mix of people already working remotely in the digital sector and many others who are wanting to enter the sector.

Here’s what we learnt:

Queensland is the place to be if you want a fantastic lifestyle while working remotely in the digital economy.

Over the last few years, we’ve seen some amazing talent move to regional areas in Qld from the southern states while many others have returned from expat stints overseas, bringing their jobs with them and now working remotely.

The prospect of working remotely in the digital economy massively expands the universe of job opportunities for people living in regional parts of the state and there is major interest in entering the digital sector.

Remote work doesn’t have to mean working from home. Regional hubs will play an important role in providing an environment for remote workers to be surrounded by like-minded professionals who can provide intellectual and creative stimulation as well as collegial support.

We are excited to keep this initiative going and for those that expressed an interest in joining the sector, we’ll be in touch with you early in the new year with the next steps.

Many thanks to our partners on this project: Microsoft , Salesforce, Deloitte, EverestEngineering, Jonas Software, Telstra, Woolworths Digital, ENTAG, NCS Group Australia and WithYouWithMe.

A pleasure to collaborate with Queensland Government Advance Queensland and Anson McCade to make it happen.
