Writing a Low Budget Feature Film - 2 sessions
January 16, 2021 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Writing a Low-Budget Feature Film (session 2)
Ever wanted to write a low budget feature film? So low budget you could finance it yourself or with some friends? This course takes you through the basics of how to write a feature film screenplay that is not only dramatically compelling, but could be filmed on a low budget.
You will be taken through the fundamentals of writing a script with one eye on the budget: the importance of choosing locations, how to tell your story without breaking the bank, ways to keep costs down while still creating something worth watching.
Lecturer Stephen Vagg wrote and helped produce the feature film All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane, which was made for $42,000 and ended up being released in cinemas throughout Australia and in Denmark. For over three years he was head writer on the TV drama Neighbours, helping plot and edit over 300 episodes, frequently using low budget techniques.
This workshop is suited to passionate Film & TV students and writers (Grade 10 to adult).
Workshop sessions:Friday 15 January, 2 to 5pm; and Saturday 16 January, 1 to 5pm.

Sunshine Coast Producers Group
February 11, 2021 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm
Peregian Beach Digital Hub, 253-255 David Low Way, Peregian Beach QLD 4573, AustraliaThe Sunshine Coast Producer Group is a new monthly meet-up designed for local house producers and DJs based on the Sunshine Coast. It’s an opportunity to get to know each other, and learn and share with other industry professionals. Each session might look a little different, but we hope to provide a chance for everyone to get something out of it regardless individual experience or skill level.
We are all local producers, DJs, and/or booking agents. We want to build a community of people who are interested in developing their skills as either DJs or producers to keep us all engaged in bettering ourselves in this industry. And we believe you don’t always have to go to the big cities to get access to good opportunities!
Everyone is welcome of all ages and experiences but RSVPs are essential. We are generously supported by the Peregian Digital Hub, and each session will include an informal networking opportunity over some food and drink at their new on-site bar.
Attendance is free. Please bring a laptop if you’d like to share your work or take notes as we go.
